I’m New

New to IBT? We’re thrilled!
Let’s get to know eachother.

EXALT

“In everything we do, we desire to exalt Jesus Christ!  We determine to preach the Word of God correctly and live by it!  We desire to be led by the Spirit of God and to live a life pleasing to our Father!  We aim to do as John 3:30 states, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Our goal is not to focus on ourselves, but to focus on the greatness of Christ!”   Philippians 2:5-11

EQUIP

“John 8:31 tells us that if we continue (obey) in the words of Christ then we are disciples “indeed” (no doubt).  Our goal at IBT is to train those in the church in the Word of God and encourage them to live as God’s Word instructs.  Not only will this help the believer grow in their faith, but it also will encourage them to reach the “lost” for Christ. Our aim is to teach the believer to be a defender of the Christian faith and to be passionate about sharing their faith.”

ENGAGE

“According to Matthew 28:18-20 we are to go into all the world with the good news of Jesus Christ!   Currently we have over 30 foreign mission works that we financially support on a monthly basis but we also desire to reach our local community.  We financially support 5 local ministries and have 3 free community events each year with the purpose of sharing the love of Christ to our neighbors.  These events are fun and designed to reach kids and families.  We desire to share God’s Word at all times but we also what to share life with people as well.  Sharing our lives will hopefully lead others to want new life through Jesus Christ!

Our Pastor

One of my favorite Bible verses is John 10:10. This verse states, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, to kill, and to destroy: I am come that the might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” I love this verse because it specifically tells us what the devil’s plan is and what God’s plan is. The devil’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy and he seems to be doing a great job at that. However, God sent Jesus into the world to give us abundant life and to be made free from the death-grip of satan. My goal, and the goal for The Indianapolis Baptist Temple, is to tell people about freedom and new life with Jesus Christ! We also equip God’s disciples to reach our community for Him. If you are looking for a church like this please come visit and be a part of what God is doing on the Southside of Indy!

God’s Work vs. Our Responsibility

Context: In whatever stage or position of life we are in, it is an easy trap to fall into to think that we are in charge of good results in our life, the lives of others and this church!  However, the truth is that we have never been given the charge of fixing the results of our lives or the lives of others!  It is God who works in us to work His will…

God’s Work in us – Romans 8:28-39

Surrender!

I have been re-reading the book

Absolute Surrender by author Andrew Murray.  In the first chapter of the book he quotes 1 Kings 20:1-4 which states in part…”And Benhadad the king of Syria…sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him…Thy silver and thy gold …

What are we looking for?

In my devotional reading from yesterday, I read about a man that had an “infirmity” for 38 years that waited during a certain season each year (along with other people that were handicapped) to be healed of his physical issues.  The passage in John 5 states that an angel would come and “trouble” the water and the first person to step into the water would be healed.  Can you imagine that? …

For God’s Pleasure!

Ever watch a movie or listen to music and it affected you so much that it made you want to change a part of your life that needed changing?  I have, and for example, every time that I watch a Rocky movie or hear its famous songs, I have a great desire to get into shape, run through the streets of Philadelphia with a crowd of people cheering me on and get in the ring to fight for the heavyweight championship of …
