What We Believe

Colossians 2:6-12
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

The Local Church
We believe the local church to be the Body of Christ; comprised solely of Scripturally baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the gospel. We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the local New Testament church and that said church is not to be interfered with or imposed upon by outside entities or agencies.
– Acts 16:30-34; Ephesians 2:18-23

The Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God and was written by men who were inspired by the Holy Ghost.
– II Timothy 3:16-17

God The Father
We believe that there is one, and only one, true God, who manifests Himself to us in the Person of the Father, in the Person of the Son, and in the Person of the Holy Spirit.
– Exodus 20:2-3; I Timothy 3:16

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son and is of the same nature.
– John 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 12:13

Creation
We believe in the Genesis account of creation and that it is to be accepted literally.
– Genesis 1:1

The Devil or Satan
We believe that Satan (Lucifer) was once holy; but through pride and ambition to be as the Almighty, fell and drew after him a host of angels. Currently holding the position as the “god of this world” (II Corinthians 4:4) we hold him to be man’s great tempter and the enemy of God and His Christ.
– Isaiah 14:12-15

The Fall of Man
We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but through willful disobedience, fell from his sinless and happy state.
– Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 5:12, 19

The Virgin Birth
We believe that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost, in a miraculous (supernatural) manner; born of Mary, a virgin.
– Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25

The Atonement for Sin
We believe that salvation is wholly of grace; through the mediatorial offices of Jesus Christ; who died, was buried, and rose again
the third day.
– John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, with the authority of the local church. It is an act of obedience as is an outward symbol of an inward changing of the heart. As to the Lord’s Supper, the sacred use of bread and the fruit of the vine are to commemorate together the love of Christ towards us.
– Acts 8:36-39; I Corinthians 11:23-28

Grace in the New Creation
We believe that in order to be saved, one must be born again and that this new birth makes one a new creature in Christ.
– John 3:3; II Corinthians 5:17

The Freeness of Salvation
We believe in God’s electing grace; that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the Gospel and it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by a humble, penitent and obedient faith.
– I Thessalonians 1:4; Colossians 3:12; I Peter 1:2

Justification
We believe that the great gospel blessing which Christ secures to those who are His is Justification: which includes the pardon of sin and the gift of eternal life.
– Acts 13:39; Romans 8:1; Romans 5:9

The Grace of Giving
Scriptural giving is one of the fundamentals of the faith (II Cor. 8:7). We are commanded to bring our gifts into the storehouse (common treasury of the church) upon the first day of the week.
– I Corinthians 16:2; Leviticus 27:30; Malachi 3:10; Acts 4:34-37

Missions
The command to give the gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable and this commission was given to the churches.
– Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; John 20:21; Romans 10:10-15

The Righteous and the Wicked
We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked. The righteous, through faith, are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and are sanctified by the Spirit of God. The wicked, while continuing in impenitence and unbelief, remain under the curse.
– Malachi 3:18; Romans 6:16-18

The Resurrection and Return of Christ
We believe in and accept the sacred Scriptures on these subjects at their face and full value. We believe that Christ rose bodily on the third day, and that He will return bodily to this earth and reign for a thousand years in righteousness.
– Matthew 28:6-7; Revelation 20:1-6

Salvation is Eternal
We believe that God knew before the creation of the world who will accept His gift of eternal life and who will reject Him.  Each person that accepts this gift has been regenerated by an eternal act of the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ, and that they are kept by the power of God the Father to live eternally with Him. No amount of works will accomplish this, as this is God’s responsibility alone.
–1 Peter 1:2, Ephesians 1:4-14; Romans 8:29-39; John 10:27-30; 2 Timothy 1:12

Civil Government
We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, honored and obeyed; except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ; who is the only Lord of conscience, the Church, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth.
– Romans 13:7; Acts 4:19-20, 5:29; Philippians 2:10-11

Marriage, Family and Sexuality
We believe that marriage is a God-designed institution where it’s relationship is between one man and one woman for a lifetime.  Marriage is God’s gift to us as it is His way to give us intimacy, companionship and the way to bring life into the world.  We believe that divorce, except for the reason of fornication, goes against what God has established.  We believe that any sexual activity outside of marriage and in any form is against God’s design and thus, is sin.
– Matthew 19, 1 Corinthians 7:10-11, Genesis 2:18-25, Romans 1:18-32
