The Church at Corinth – An Unhealthy church…
  • The church was losing its vision of serving Christ, first and foremost! Given over to worldliness!
  • Divisions (1 Cor. 1:10-17) Fornication (1 Cor. 5:1)
  • Lawsuits among the church members (1 Cor. 6)

…That got healthier – 2 Corinthians 7

  • They sent Titus to comfort Paul (7)
  • They were “clear” from wrong doing (11)
  • THEY REPENTED (9)
  • They had Godly sorrow instead of worldly sorrow!
  • They were abounding in faith, utterance, knowledge, love, and in grace! Especially the grace of giving! – 2 Corinthians 8:6-8
  • Their giving provoked others – 2 Cor. 9:2

An Attitude of Giving – 2 Corinthians 9:1-15

  • Give little = get little: Give much = get much (6)
  • You give what you purpose to give (7) Purpose is not an amount, but the nature of your heart to give!
  • Your attitude of giving reflects your heart and is steeped in appreciation towards God (7)
  • God will always provide for you! (8)
  • God blesses you so you can bless others! (8)
  • God increases what you give (10)
  • God gave the greatest gift = Jesus! (15)

More Money and Heart Verses:

  • “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” – Matthew 6:21
  • “He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.” – Ecclesiastes 5:10
  • No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” – Matthew 6:24
  • “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into thisworld, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.   • Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
